MASSAGE AND SPA TIPS
1.You might need to talk to your therapist!
If you are uncomfortable having any part of your body massaged, please alert your therapist BEFORE you begin. Even though we try to be sensitive to our customers needs, we do not have that mind reading thing down quite yet (our crystal ball is in the shop, etc.etc.) Remember that if you have a little bit of shyness in you (and we do think it's a wonderful quality), you can wear whatever makes you comfortable and keeps the embarrassment hounds at bay. You can even wear long johns, as our supply of wetsuits is quite limited.
2. It is standard practice in a professional massage to work on the inner thighs (adductor muscles) the buttocks (the gluteus minimus, medius and maximus) the chest (pectorals) and abdominals. It is not inappropriate when these muscles are addressed, but if you have an aversion to anything we mention, speak up immediately!!! We won't be able to do a wonderful service (and you certainly won't enjoy it) if you are lying there squirming. It is possible that your therapist will manually stretch you in an attempt to improve muscle stiffness. You may be sore after a good massage, especially if you don't get them very often. After all, we can't take care of ten years of stress and neglect in sixty minutes. We recommend you drink LOTS OF WATER after your massage.
4. The therapist will pay close attention to your face to determine if any part of the procedure is making you uncomfortable, or is causing you pain. They will also look closely at your body to check for areas of varicosity, bruising, cuts or abrasions. They are not looking for cellulite or hidden liposuction scars.
5. You will be draped with a sheet that covers most of your
body, but allows your therapist to work on specific areas. Because it is a sheet, it may move around a little. Your therapist will adjust the sheet if they notice it is out of place, however, they are concentrating on your massage, and a slipped sheet may be overlooked.
6. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU INFORM US BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PREMISES if you have any questions, concerns or complaints about your service. Please be assured that you and your position will be addressed immediately and privately.
